Chart No. 1 · N 62.1

Spoil ground / spoil area

Areas & limits

A dashed limit labeled 'Spoil' marks where dredged material is dumped — depths there are unreliable.

What it means
A dashed limit with the legend 'Spoil Ground' or 'Spoil Area' marks a zone where dredged material is deposited. Charted soundings inside are not maintained.
Why it matters
The bottom here changes with every dumping run — a spot charted at 10 m may now be 4 m. Avoid crossing spoil grounds in a deep-draft vessel and never anchor in one.
