Clearing line or transit
Areas & limitsAdvanced
A line through two fixed marks defines a visual boundary used to remain clear of danger.
What it means
When two identified fixed marks are in line, the vessel lies on the charted transit. Notes or pilotage information state which side is safe.
Why it matters
A clearing line is usually a boundary, not a track to follow. Confirm the safe side before using it.
